Nutritional Latte’s

Tumeric Latte

So I noticed a sign outside my local Costa Coffee shop yesterday advertising a new range called Latte +. A flavoured range with added Vitamin B12 and Zinc or Protein. It got me thinking about some great coffee’s you can make yourself at home that have amazing health benefits.

For example Tumeric Latte in the photo above
Tumeric contains curcumin which has powerful anti-inflammatory effects and is an anti-oxidant.
These properties are linked to a reduced risk of chronic diseases.
It is also studied to have anti-fungal, anti-bacterial and anti-viral effects.
Cinammon is great for keeping blood glucose levels balanced and helping to ease digestive discomfort.
This latte can be made with or without coffee.

Cinnamon Coconut Latte
Brew your coffee of choice – enough to fill 3/4 of your cup
Add this to a blender or use a hand blender and blitz it up with
2tbsp of coconut oil
1/4 – 1/2 tsp of ground cinnamon
1/4 cup of unsweetened coconut or almond milk
1/8tsp vanilla extract
Once blended put in a mug and enjoy

Using a high quality organic coffee should ensure its free of mold and mycotoxins.
Coconut oil is rich in medium-chain tryglycerides which makes them a quick source of energy.
Cinnamon is high in antioxidants, can help reduce inflammation and help blood glucose balance. It also give sweetness alongside the vanilla, so no extra sugar should be needed.

Hormone balancing Ashwagandha Latte
125ml of plant based milk + 125ml of brewed coffee of your choice (or can just use 250ml of milk)
1tsp of ashwagandha powder (Buywholefoodsonline.co.uk)
1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
A pinch of cardamon powder

Heat the milk or milk/coffee to a simmer (not boil) and then add in powders and stir till combined. Can use frother if you have one. Serve in a mug and enjoy.

If you are just using milk and keeping this caffeine free this is great before bed.
Ashwagandha is an adaptogen. It may help balance the endocrine system hormones and therefore reduce stress.
